Exercises in Sharing (Finger)
Finger was exhibited in the The Little Things exhibition with Neal Breton curated by Morgan Hamilton for The Delaware Contemporary in 2018.
Finger is a wall bound installation of 220 second hand thimbles that are arranged by thrown darts.
Blue tape was used to mark, roughly, where the curator and artist like to be touched. Darts were then thrown toward the marked areas and each dart was replaced with a thimble screwed into the wall.
Visitors were invited to touch the piece, and as each thimble is unique, each finger fit each thimble differently. Some thimbles are metal, some plastic, a few soft translucent rubber.
By engaging with the installation, participants complete a communal gesture of approximation and fumbling related to intimacy and sex.
